What are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are a type of injectable used to improve the look of the face. There are several different types of dermal fillers, including hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm, which imitate the hyaluronic acid already found in your skin to reduce wrinkles and make the skin more flexible.

What is Dermal Filler Treatment Like?
Dermal filler treatment is a very straightforward procedure. To start, we’ll cleanse the skin in the treatment area. We can apply topical anesthetic to ensure you’re comfortable, but most patients don’t feel discomfort or pain. From there, we’ll start the treatment process by injecting the formula into your skin using a very thin needle. Where you receive injections depends on the results you’re looking for.
How long the treatment process takes depends on the number of injections needed. On average, it can take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour.
What is Recovery From Dermal Fillers Like?
Once all your injections are done, you will see most of the results immediately. You may also notice some swelling, bruising, and redness, but those side effects will dissipate in a day or two. You can apply a cold compress to ease any swelling.
You will likely be able to return to strenuous activities after 24-48 hours. You’ll want to avoid smoking and alcohol on the day of treatment.
When Will I See the Results?
The results of dermal fillers are usually immediate, but it can depend on the dermal filler used. The same can be said for how long the results last.
