Laser Skin Resurfacing in Portland, OR

What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing is a nonsurgical procedure used to improve the look and feel of the skin. Depending on the type of treatment used, laser resurfacing can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin tone and texture. By using ablative and nonablative lasers and light energy, our team at Dr. Bohley Cosmetic Surgery can help you completely transform your skin.

We offer two different laser skin resurfacing treatments: Halo Laser and BBL.

Halo

Halo Laser is a hybrid fractional laser treatment that combines non-ablative (1470 nm) and ablative lasers (2940 nm) to make micro-injuries in the skin to boost collagen production and target specific skin concerns, including hyperpigmentation, sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, and other visible signs of aging with minimal downtime.

BBL

BroadBand Light (BBL) technology uses intense pulsed light to address a variety of skin concerns, including fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, age spots, brown spots, and freckles. It targets and damages tissue, unwanted veins, and pigment to give you a flawless complexion.

Am I A Good Candidate For Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Ideal candidates for laser skin resurfacing are healthy adults with realistic expectations who are looking to address skin issues like fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, sun damage, spider veins, and other visible signs of aging.

We’ll determine if laser resurfacing is right for you during your consultation.

What is Laser Skin Resurfacing Like?

Your laser skin resurfacing treatment will start with cleansing te area and applying a topical numbing cream to ensure you’re comfortable. From there, depending on the type of laser resurfacing being done, the Halo or BBL device will be applied to the skin. How long treatment lasts depends on the side of the treatment area and the results you’re looking for.

What to Expect With Recovery From Laser Skin Resurfacing

After laser skin resurfacing, your downtime will depend on the intensity of the treatment. Superficial treatment typically requires no downtime, while more intensive treatments need 2-3 days of downtime. Your skin may appear red, and you might have some pinpoint bleeding, but these side effects will diminish relatively quickly.

You’ll want to apply sunscreen for the first 30 days after treatment as your skin will be sensitive to light.

What Will Be My Results?

When you can expect to see results of laser skin resurfacing also depends on the intensity of your treatment. With superficial treatment, you’ll likely see results in 3-7 days, but you will continue to see improvements over the next few months. With more in-depth laser treatment, your skin may need more time to heal before you see the results.

You may see results after 1-2 treatments, but further treatment might be necessary, depending on the results you’re looking for.
